Benito started as a local butchery in the year 2012 as an outlet located in Balozi, South B Area of Nairobi County. The team was composed of two employees including the current director. Our clientele were walk-in clients who purchased our products for individual consumption.

Our business goal was driven by majorly providing better butchery services to the community within the location.

In the year 2016, Benito was registered as a limited company. This saw the need for growth and thus introduced home delivery services and online sales through our website to cater for a wider market and customers’ demand.

Our breakthrough came during the start of severe Covid 19 pandemic. As the entire country was on lockdown, the opportunity for our already set up ecommerce system to order online, we were able to meet the demand for our existing clientele and even grow the online sales. By then we had already set up a small processing unit in Utawala with the main aim of processing meat cuts in bulk and supplying.

Another breakthrough came when our home delivery client suggested to us if we could explore the hotel industry. We had never supplied in hotels and in fact we had no experience in meat cuts for HoReCa industry. With the team’s persistency and commitment, we were able to meet the demand which also contributed to our learning and improvement.

After almost three (3) years of operation in the small processing unit in Utawala, through our business advisor, we resolved to look for an investor. We managed to secure a funding of USD 200,000 for our expansion. With the expansion of the business, we moved to our current location in KHL Business Park, Mlolongo. With the new space we have introduce new products such as processed bacon, sausages, burgers, marinated products, smoked products and ultimately increase our capacity.

We can proudly say that it has been a journey of growth, passion, learning and gaining experiences to be able to serve better to reach our competitive advantage.
